african spirit drumming

The African culture has expanded into several countries around the world. Almost every style of music has been influenced by the richness of African rhythms.

African Spirit Drumming is a project that represents the correlation between the very roots of Africa and the mix with Latin cultures. This very idea is brought to the forefront by the Sudanese born Walled Abdul Hamid and Cuban Master Percussionist Joaquin Nunez Hidalgo.

Waleed has devoted his life to the art of music. He demonstrates his versatility and extensive musical talents on several native African instruments including the darabhuka, marimba, djembe and dumbek. His unbelievable talents also extend themselves to include guitar, bass and flutes. He is a founding member of award-winning African bands Tikisa, Radio Nomad and Balimbo…an exceptional music producer.

Joaquin has had a successful music career in Cuba. Performing in multiple music events and festivals, he has shared the stage with some of Cuba's most elite musicians such as Hilario Duran and Emiliano Salvador. His talent and versatility allow him to express himself freely on several Cuban traditional percussion instruments as the congas, batas, bongos & timbales.

The African Spirit Drumming is a performing workshop where the spiritual intensity of the music is demonstrated through the majical performance of these two talented musicians. Chants, rhythms, melody, it is all a part of this electrical show. Appropriate for any kind of venue.
